Sometimes, It’s OKAY to be a Little Selfish
I sense you may be surrounded by a plethora of opinions at this moment. Parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles all eager to share their two cents on what they believe is best for you.
It’s crucial to appreciate and consider these well-intentioned opinions, as most people genuinely want to assist you. However, it’s essential to remember that the ultimate authority on what’s best for you lies within yourself.
Of course, I’m not suggesting that you disregard your parents’ advice. Quite often, they possess valuable insights. Surprisingly, they might be right more often than we anticipate!
Nevertheless, it’s crucial not to blindly follow the advice of others just because they offer it. A significant part of finding happiness stems from trusting your own judgment. Embrace the understanding that you are the one who truly comprehends what’s in your best interest.
It could mean pursuing an unconventional career path or declining an invitation to a party in favour of some much needed “you time.” As a young man, it’s normal to feel lost and confused and sometimes, you need to prioritise YOU above anything else.
In essence, be yourself. Embrace your individuality and make choices based on what resonates with you. Remember, happiness springs from being true to your purpose and your values… not pleasing others.
